Swimming has the strongest evidence for users with exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) — warm, humid air around the pool is bronchoprotective compared to cold or dry outdoor air. For non-swimmers, the practical EIB-reducing strategies are: gradual 10-15 minute warmup (the refractory-period effect protects against the actual workout), pre-exercise SABA inhaler (e.g. albuterol/salbutamol) 15 minutes before if your pulmonologist prescribed one, and AVOID cold dry air — the dominant EIB trigger. If you have severe asthma, frequent rescue-inhaler use, or hospitalizations, get medical clearance before starting any new program.
